I send “newslessays” (aka newsletter essays, with photos embedded) twice a month via Substack, and I’m working on adding more missives to the mix. Subscribe for free below, or see a preview at thecorestories.substack.com!

This site’s name, “The Core Stories,” has held a whole lot of space. It has housed a tiny, handmade greeting card company; a wide spectrum of creative services and storytelling strategy; a personal portfolio and blog; and now, an astrology and coaching business. I might have named it after the Big Apple originally, but as I’ve uprooted and replanted myself and my work over the years, the title still seems to translate.
This is a space for getting to the core of things — to the tough center where the seeds of new growth are contained. To the solid, the essential, the heart of the stories we tell ourselves and each other.
This is a space of but/and, and asking why. A space to learn that there’s freedom in grounding, and conversely, that roots can be roving. A space to reroute and reroot in tandem.
This is a space for those hungry to reconnect with life’s lush mud and messy fruit.
The Core Stories is a space for exploring the concepts of growth and sustainability from every creative angle. It’s a space where self-development meets social advocacy, where the body has a voice, where we tend to what’s true. It’s where we dig, sow, and grow new narratives (for ourselves and our everyday ecosystems) that are rooted in heart — the kind of grounding that actually sets us all free.
